US admits 2 hostages were accidentally killed in al-Qaeda raid

The White House has said that a US counterterrorism operation in January killed two hostages who were being held by al-Qaeda. Dr Warren Weinstein, an American held by the militants since 2011, was one of those killed in the raid in the border region of Afghanistan and Pakistan. The other hostage was Giovanni Lo Porto, an Italian held since 2012.

President Barack Obama described it as a painful loss that he profoundly regretted. He said that the US had launched the operation in the belief that the target was an al-Qaeda compound with no civilians present, but that the militants had been hiding the hostages there.

Nigerian troops pull back from Sambisa forest

Nigerian troops have pulled back from their ongoing operations in Sambisa forest after 3 members of a government approved vigilante were killed by landmines setup by Boko Haram in the deadly forest today April 23rd.

The soldiers and the vigilante group members made an entry into the deadly forest on Sunday April 20th to destroy the sect members camps in the forest and if possible liberate the missing Chibok girls.

This is Ridiculous!!! Eatery worker sentenced to 266 years imprisonment for stealing N8m

                                 

Like seriously 266 years,,, what the heck kind of Judgment is that????? is this the new face of justice we seek,,,Stealing is a punishable crime but 266 years for God sake.... now thats ridiculous... A staff of popular eatery Sweet Sensation, Oluremi Olayinka pictured above has been sentenced to 266 years imprisonment by an Ogun state High Court for stealing N8 million from her employers. 

Her company petitioned the EFCC after she made away with N8million handed over to her by her employer. Olayinka was in May 2013 dragged before the court for the offence.

Justice A.A. Akinyemi while delivering his judgement on the case yesterday April 22nd, found her guilty on all 34-count charges brought against her. She was sentenced to seven years on each of 30 counts and 14 years on the remaining four charges.
