World-renowned scientist and biologist Ameenah Gurib-Fakim is the new Mauritius President. She will be the first female president of the island, which gained independence from Britain in 1968 after parliament votes on her appointment tomorrow

• Femi Adeshina, the MD of Sun newspaper has been appointed Special Adviser to the President, Media and Publicity while.... 
• Shehu Garba, who was until now the Director of Buhari Media Organization, is now Senior Special Assistant (Media & Publicity).

A Tanker laden with fuel which was coming from Awka and moving towards Asaba failed brake at the ever busy Asaba Park at Upper Iweka, Onitsha and exploded upon crashing into the park, burning more than 20 people beyond recognition and also burning 10 commercial buses parked at the park. US Vice President's Son, Beau Biden Dies At 46 according to a statement by the White House. Joseph “Beau” Biden III, an Iraq War veteran who also served as the attorney general of Delaware died after battling brain cancer, the vice president’s office said. Beau Biden is the first child of a sitting president or vice president to die since Patrick Bouvier Kennedy passed away two days after his birth in 1963.

 Vice President Biden said in his statement, “More than his professional accomplishments, Beau measured himself as a husband, father, son and brother. His absolute honor made him a role model for our family. Beau embodied my father’s saying that a parent knows success when his child turns out better than he did.”
