Jailed Actress, Ibinabo Fiberisima's Bail Application Suffers Setback

Nollywood actress and former beauty queen Ibinabo Fiberesima, who is currently serving a five-year jail term for manslaughter, was denied bail today by the Court of Appeal in Lagos.
Even after one Victor Eden, in a six-paragraph affidavit of urgency stated that Ms. Fiberesima is currently recovering from a breast tumor-removal surgery and requires medical attention.

Victor had said:
“Her wound has not fully healed and as such she is afraid that her continued stay in prison may endanger her life, as she will not have access to special medical attention.''

The deponent stated further that it would be in the interest of justice and for her health to admit Ms. Fiberesima to bail pending the hearing and determination of her appeal to the Supreme Court.

Ibinabo was sentenced by Justice Deborah Oluwayemi of a Lagos High Court, for reckless driving and causing death. She was alleged to have recklessly driven a car which resulted in an accident along the Lekki-Epe expressway, Lagos, causing the death of one Giwa Suraj. The deceased was said to be a staff of a Lagos State government hospital.

Today, the three-man panel of judges, headed by Justice U.I. Ndukwe-Anyanwu, ruled that Ibinabo's bail application was incomplete, as she failed to attach to her application, copies of the judgment affirming the five-year jail sentence imposed on her by a Lagos High Court.

Presiding Justice Ndukwe-Anyanwu said the only option left was to strike out the application or adjourn it to a further date for a hearing.

Consequently, Nnaemeka Amaechina, Ms. Fiberesima's counsel, asked for an adjournment to enable him to correct the bail application. The court subsequently adjourned the matter to April 7.

Meanwhile, Ms. Fiberesima asked the Supreme Court to set aside the judgement of the lower court that was affirmed by the appellate court.

In her notice of appeal, she stated that the Court of Appeal erred when it affirmed the alteration by the High Court of Lagos State by setting aside the option of a N100,000 fine and substituting it with a prison term of five years.

The appellant further stated that the Court of Appeal erred when it affirmed the interference by the High Court with the exercise of discretion by the Magistrate's Court.

Ms. Fiberesima added that the judgment of the Court of Appeal was unreasonable and could not be supported, with regard to the evidence presented before the court.

"Even 5 Years Can't Bring Back The Deceased" - Actress Grace Amah Pleads For Ibinabo Fiberesima to be Pardoned

Following the conviction of Ibinabo Fiberesima, several celebrities has made a case for her.

They believe that rather than imprison her, she should be made to cater for the needs of the Dr. Suraj Giwa's Family who died 10 years ago in an auto crash involving Ibinabo.

However, a lot people also believe that she deserves what she got and should pay for her crime.

Actress, Grace Amah has joined other celebrities pleading for the forgiveness of Ibinabo

Read what she wrote below...

Those who want Ibinabo in jail are those who have been dwarfed by her intimidating credentials and humanitarian services. It may be argued that the law has taken its course, yes. So it seems, but that is the law of man. Daniel was put in prison as recorded in the Scripture bcos King Darius was convinced that he should be put to death. God visited Daniel in prison and released him. Peter was put into prison by Herod and was bound in between by two soldiers, and behold an Angel of the Lord appeared and struck the cell with lightening and the chains on him fell and he was released. All this indicates that the law of God is more and stronger than the law of man. The family of Dr. Suraj may have got reprieve by the judgement of the Court, but better reprieve will be that of peace between Ibinabo and Suraj family.

What was needed ab initio was an understanding where Mrs Ibinabo takes over some responsibilities for the family of the deceased through providing resources or scholarship for one or two children of the deceased and some form help to the widow. That is still an opening that could be accessed. Even 5 years imprisonment can never bring back the deceased. The civil law may have be fulfilled but by the judgement and imprisonment of Ibinabo, but in our human relations, there remains a permanent emotional and psychological scar. What is the way forward; let the family of Dr. Suraj find reason to go further than legal satisfaction.

It is Ibinabo Fiberesima today, who knows the next tomorrow? Let us note also that as celebrities we have to be very careful and learn from this because It shows also that the law neither respect persons nor status and perhaps Nigeria is becoming a nation where people still have hope in the legal process to obtain justice no matter how long. This matter is certainly beyond politics of AGN and personality conflict #ISTAND4IB #PRAY4IB #PRAY4GIWASFAMILY #GODBLESSNIGERIA

Shame : Newspaper Publishes Photos of Senator Having S*x With a Prostit*te(See Photos)

The Ugandan Red Paper Newspapers has published photos of senator Ayena Odongo screen grabbed from an anonymously leaked video that is making all rounds on social media, the old Member of Parliament shows off his extremely immodest sexual behaviour while appearing completely nude in various sex scenes with one unidentified woman.

The video, which runs for almost 20 minutes, shows the legislator exhibiting all kinds of s*x styles.

Ayena Odongo later sued the Red Pepper publication to court for allegedly defaming him when they published nude photos of him while in intimacy relationship with a woman.

According to court records, the Red Pepper published photos depicting MP Ayena having sexual relations with a female in what is clearly a private setting, where peeping Toms, snoops and voyeurs can't be.

The MP's wife Hilda Marris Ayena, is a joint complainant in the case that was filed before the High Court in Kampala yesterday.

She states that regardless of what her husband did, the tabloid newspaper had no right to publish his photos given the private nature of the actions depicted therein and that they were not worthy at all to be published.

In her affidavit, Hilda states that the publication never obtained his consent before running them.

“The respondent (Red Pepper) had no other intention but to unjustly enrich itself by serving prurient interests while embarrassing my husband and causing distress, humiliation, anguish and pain to (the) family,” reads Hilda's affidavit in support of her husband's suit.

Adding: “the impugned publications have exposed my husband, our children and me to all manner of indignity, stigma and ridicule from sections of society who can identify us in connection with the publications.”

Mrs Ayena says in the affidavit that she has received numerous phone calls and judgmental glances from neighbours and other people with whom they have hitherto freely interacted.

The Ayenas, through Centre for Legal Aid, want court to order the tabloids to stop publishing more of such nude and private pictures and that they should be compensated with Shilling five billion in punitive damages.

They also want court to order the Red Pepper and its sister publications to run an apology in the same ‘frequency' and ‘prominence' that they gave the photos.

Courtditors had by press time not summoned the e of Red Pepper and its sister tabloids to file in their defense before the case can be fixed for hearing.

APC Lists 24 Sins Committed by Ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, Nyesom Wike, PDP in Rivers State(Read)

Ahead of the state's Saturday March 19th rerun election for the state house of assembly members, House of Representatives and Senate members, APC in Rivers state has listed 24 sins committed by former Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan, the incumbent governor of the state, Nyesom Wike and their political party, PDP against the people of the state, urging the electorates to vote against PDP during the elections.

The list of the 24 sins allegedly committed is contained in a statement issued by the party's state chairman, Davies Ikanya, in Port Harcourt, the state capital on Wednesday March 16th. Read the full list below ...

1. President Jonathan failed to muster the courage and political will in a PDP-controlled National Assembly to see to the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) in the over six years of his administration to demonstrate his hatred for the Niger Delta region knowing that communities in Rivers State will benefit from the bill.

2 The East/West Road, especially Eleme-Onne axis in Rivers State, was not only abandoned but was a nightmare to travellers and commuters.
3 Bodo-Bonny Federal Road was completely abandoned just because it is situated in Rivers State.

4. Refusal to refund to the State Government over 90 billion naira used in the dualisation of Ikwerre-Owerri Road approved by late President Yar’Adua and other Federal Roads in the State executed by the State to ease the sufferings of the people of Rivers State.

5. Wickedly stopped Train 7 at NLNG Bonny and the loss of jobs to our people and revenue to Government.

6 Non-implementation of UNEP Report on the clean-up of Ogoni land despite all the pleas by our people and the International Community – just to punish the Ogonis and Rivers State irrespective of their overwhelming support for him during the 2011 elections.

7 Lack of any visible Federal Government project in Rivers State throughout his over six years as President of Nigeria. Instructively, of all the states Dr Jonathan has visited in the course of his re-election campaign, it was only in Rivers that he could not name a single development project he initiated, not to talk of executing.

8. Ceding of oil wells belonging to Rivers to Bayelsa and Abia states to ensure that the revenue accruing to the State was reduced to nothing.

9. Abandoned construction of the Port Harcourt International Airport after completing other airports started at the same time with it. The airport has thus become an eyesore and the worst airport in the entire world. Pictures of the current state of the Airport attached explain the level of hatred Dr Jonathan has for Rivers State and her people.

10. Turning the Port Harcourt axis of Enugu-Port Harcourt Express Road into a death trap. The pictures attached of the bad state of the road explain everything.

11. Posting and encouraging the excesses of the tyrannical Police Commissioner Joseph Mbu during his inglorious days in the State.

12. Supporting the impunity of daily killing, maiming of members of Rivers APC by the Police under the watch of Dan Barure then Commissioner of Police of the State.

13. Supporting every imaginable act of impunity in the State, including the plot by five State Assembly members to impeach the Speaker in a House of 31 members.

14. Seizing and grounding the planes of the State for no just cause.

15. Harassing and intimidating the then Governor of Rivers State (Rt. Hon. Amaechi) for no just cause and even supporting the splitting of the Governors Forum into two just to ensure that Governor Amaechi, who was duly elected by his colleagues, does not have an easy reign as the Chairman of the Forum.

16. Refusal to allow the then Governor of the state to construct the Federal Road that leads to the Kalabari Kingdom just to ensure that during the rainy season the Kalabaris will not have a road to their place.

17..Refusal to refund the State the money used to construct the smooth, beautiful dual carriageway from Omerelu to Port Harcourt – particularly up to the Airport Junction from Owerri in Imo State, which the Federal Government abandoned just because Rivers State people ply that road.
18. Refusal to refund the money used by Rivers State to construct the Ahoada/Elele Alimini Federal Road and the interchange (Flyover) at Obiri Ikwerre.

19. Refusal to attend to the poor state of the Onne – Port Harcourt component of the East/West Road. This is the road that services the Port Harcourt Refinery from where petroleum products are supplied to the South East and parts of the South South. That is the road that leads to the Onne Free Zone and to Okrika, the home Local Government of Dame Patience Jonathan, Nigeria’s former First Lady.

20. Turning a blind eye while his party continues to kill, bomb and disrupt APC rallies.

21. Against the spirit of equity, unity, justice and fair play, Dr Jonathan and his wife, Damee patience Jonathan imposed Chief Nyesome Wike a cancellous fellow from the Ikwerre tribe as PDP candidate and Governor of Rivers State, knowing very well that the former Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, was also of Ikwerre extraction and that with Chief Wike as Governor that the Ikwerre tribe will governed Rivers State for 16 years to the detriment of other tribes and sections of the State. This shows that Dr Jonathan and his son and unjust party do not wish Rivers State any good.

22. Former President Jonathan released all the N25 Billion that accrued from the principle of derivation from the five Soku Oil Wells that rightly belong to Rivers State kept in reserve for Rivers State and Bayelsa State were all paid to Bayelsa State his home State to prove his hatred for Rivers State.

23. As a President, Dr Jonathan continued to under fund the NDDC to ensure that Rivers State and in extension the Niger Delta region is not developed, till the time he left office, over N700B owed by the Federal Government was not paid to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC)

24. Refused to empower and fund the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs initiated by the Yar-Adua’s administration. The then Minister of Niger Delta once stated that the N41.7B due to the Ministry was not paid until Dr Jonathan left office to ensure that 90 percent of the projects initiated by the Ministry were not executed by the Ministry in Rivers State and other Niger Delta States
Ikanya said: “These, amongst other wicked acts against Rivers State for reasons only to be explained by Dr Jonathan are why no PDP should be voted for this Saturday’s poll.
He then said: “For the record, Dr Jonathan is from Bayelsa, a sister State to Rivers.
He is married to Dame Patience Jonathan, who is from Rivers State and having schooled in UNIPORT and lectured in the State before joining politics; one would have expected him to be a key factor in the development of Rivers State after the State gave him the highest number of votes in the 2011 presidential election though not shockingly, he was the greatest undoing of his party in the 2015 general election.”
