Brussels Under Attack! Many Dead As 'Suicide Bombers Attack' Rock Airport And Train Station During Rush Hour(See Photos)
Brussels, the capital city of Belgium is on total lockdown, at least 23 people have been killed and several injured following terrorist attacks. Two explosions rocked the city’s main international airport, and a third in a subway station at the heart of the city.
According to news agencies, 13 people were killed at the airport, and 15 in the subway bombing, while 30 others were wounded. Prime Minister Charles Michel of Belgium said there were “numerous” dead. “We were fearing terrorist attacks, and that has now happened,” he said.
At least 13 reportedly died, possibly including the attackers, after two suicide bombs rocked Brussels Zaventem airport just after 8am this morning.
At least 35 are thought to be seriously injured with hundreds of "walking wounded" after the series of blasts.
The France-Belgium border has been closed following the wave of attacks this morning.
Police are describing the horrifying events as terror attacks.
French Police have said they will deploy 1,600 additional police officers at borders and on transport.
Witnesses reported seeing "dismembered bodies everywhere" and heard shots fired and shouting in Arabic before the two airport blasts.
Samir Derrouich, who works at a restaurant in Brussels airport, said: "The two explosions were almost simultaneous. They were both at check in desk. One was close to the Starbucks. It was awful. There was just blood. It was like the apocalypse."
Fire fighters who entered the blast-hit building are understood to have found a third unexploded device.
As they evacuated people from the airport, terror cops confiscated hand luggage from holidaymakers and they checked for further explosives.
All travel including metro stations, Eurostar, rail stations and flights have been cancelled as the city goes into total lockdown this morning.
Authorities are warning people to stay away, stay indoors and away from crowded areas amid the terror in Brussels.
Belgian MP Georges Dallemagne had just dropped his wife off at the airport when she heard the ‘massive explosions’ and the roof caved in.
He said: "I dropped her off around 7.40am this morning, and she called me to say that there were explosions around 7.58am.
"She ran away immediately, in a state of shock, towards the Sheraton Hotel. Then she returned to pick up her baggage, realising that the danger in this zone had passed.
"It was then that she saw broken windows, victims leaving the airport, the elderly put on stretchers, and the emergency services arriving.
"She saw a part of the ceiling had collapsed. She said the two explosions were around the departure hall."
Earlier a bomb disposal unit was spotted racing towards the European Union building in the heart of the city.
It is not clear whether the vehicle was responding to a specific threat.
It has been reported one of the explosions centred around the American Airlines desk in the departure lounge in Zaventem airport.
Another blast is thought to have taken place on the road leading up to departures.
All metro stations have been closed in the city following the attacks during this morning's rush hour.
Eurostar sources say the service is still running normally but it is likely that the whole Brussels public transport network is likely to be closed.
Witnesses described “feeling the shockwaves” of the blasts as the explosions ripped through the airport and said dismembered bodies and blood were strewn across the floor.

"I Was Never In A Relationship With Uti Nwachukwu" - Beverly Naya Denise
British-Nigerian Actress, Beverly Naya has refuted claims that she was romantically involved with BBA winner and TV personality, Uti Nwachukwu
In her interview with The Nation she made it clear that she was just good friends with Uti and has never dated him
"Oh no, not at all. First and foremost, Uti is my good friend and there was no truth to that rumour. So, it never affected my love life in any way because I don’t think people actually believed that I dated Uti. So, rumours like that have never affected my love life." she said
On her views on same sex marriage, she said;
Well, I don’t really condone same-sex marriage. Obviously, whatever your preference is, it’s up to you. But same-sex people getting married in the church is not really how it’s supposed to be in my opinion. Being a Christian and everything, I feel like marriage is a sacred thing and it was originally planned so that a man and a woman can go to church and be married in unity. So, I just feel like I don’t really agree with same-sex marriage but at the end of the day, who am I to judge? I’m not really in a position to judge anyone.
When she was asked what her fan do not know about her she said
Hmm… Let’s see. Well, there’s one thing that I don’t think I’ve said very often. I don’t grow hair on my legs so I’ve never had to shave my legs before. Thankfully, I’m not one of those females who have to worry about shaving their legs every week. I’ve never had to do it in my life. That’s one thing my fans don’t know about me.
She talked about her documentary 'fifty shades of black' which she said is basically about empowering young girls to love themselves.
She also revealed that her mom was her role model.
Soldiers Beat Up 51-Year Old Woman In Benin City, Now Hospitalized(Photos)
Some soldiers, yesterday Monday March 21, assaulted a motorist, Joy Agboghide, for allegedly obstructing traffic on Forestry Lane, Benin, Edo State.
It was learnt that the incident occurred at about 4pm in front of the headquarters of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company.
It was learnt that an officer, a Major, was said to have emerged from the premises of the company and instructed the woman to reverse her vehicle in order to ease traffic on the narrow road.
Sources said Agboghide, a mother of six, however, explained that she had initially allowed about five vehicles to go due to the indiscriminate parking of vehicles on the road.
An argument was said to have ensued between the soldier and the 51-year-old woman, after the army officer insisted that she must reverse her vehicle.
The major, who was said to have been angered by the development, returned to the BEDC premises.
The source said he later returned with some soldiers said to be attached to the BEDC and allegedly ordered them to beat the woman up.
She was said to have been rushed to the Central Hospital in Benin where she is receiving treatment as of the time of filing this report.
Agboghide, who later spoke to our correspondent, said, “I went to Lagos Street to get some food items. So, I passed through Forestry (Lane) to the road beside former NEPA. As I was going, the driver of the vehicle in front of me and some traders around told me to stop. I stopped and about four vehicles passed. Later, the traders told me to go.
“As I moved on, a soldier told me to reverse and I explained that I had waited for some vehicles to pass. But he said, ‘Do you know who you are talking to? Reverse!’ Before I knew it, he used his gun to hit my windscreen.
“I came out and asked him what I had done and he said I should wait. He went into the BEDC premises and came out with some soldiers who descended on me.
“He said they should clear me off the road. But as he tried to enter his vehicle, I pulled him and told him to pay for the damage done to my car.”
Agboghide alleged that she was also assaulted by a woman said to be the wife of the officer.
She said, “As the man jumped inside his vehicle and tried to drive off, I hit his windscreen. He came down and damaged my windscreen and the rear screen.
“Suddenly, he came out with a whip and beat me. The lady inside the vehicle also sprayed tear gas into my eyes.”
Spokesman for the 4 Brigade Command of the Nigerian Army, Captain Jonah Unuakhalu, told our correspondent that the officer involved was not in the Army.
“He is a Nigerian Air Force officer. But we are investigating,” Unuakhalu said.”
