Photo : Nigerian Man Reveals How He Was Prosecuted And Almost Killed For Converting To Christianity In Northern Nigeria

Brent Hail, a Jacksonville resident and Tyler firefighter recently traveled to Nigeria for the first time to visit with missionaries who are supported by Fellowship Bible Church in Jacksonville.

He and the missionaries traveled to northern Nigeria to pick up Musa who was allegedly prosecuted and almost killed after converting to Christianity. Read his story below:
"The day started pretty early because we had a long way to go. We were going to pick up a man in a town in northern Nigeria. The story had gotten back to us of an amazing way God had delivered him at his village from being killed for his faith. As the van left with me and five other travelers, I wanted to see God in an amazing way. I wasn’t disappointed.

This story is about a man named Musa, who, this past January, almost lost his life for converting to Christianity. As we headed northeast in northern Nigeria, I could tell that we were heading into areas that were almost completely Muslim. We were traveling to the village where it happened. I had heard about Musa and his incredible story through one of the missionaries our church supports.

Four hours later we finally pull up to the spot where it all happened. Musa walked us to the mud house where it all took place. He began by telling us that two years ago he became a Christian as a result of one of the outreaches to his village.

Most of the village was either pagan or Muslim, so when he converted he was seen as an outsider of sorts. Let me say quickly that Islam is not the enemy here. There is a much bigger enemy who uses Islamic radicals to carry out horrible things against people.

After his conversion, Musa told people in his village that he was a Christian and that he wanted them to know that Jesus truly cared and loved them. The leaders of the village didn’t like that, so they were going to make it difficult for him.

They took his wife and married her to another man in the same village. They then approached him with a large sum of money wanting to denounce his faith and come back to Islam, but Musa refused. They then brought him several women for the same purpose, but he still refused.

One night, two people from his village came to his mud hut at midnight, kicked in his door and told him that this was going to be his last night on earth. One of them had a gun. As the man fired, Musa reached around to feel the exit hole from the bullet, but it wasn’t there. The man was standing approximately five feet away, so surely he couldn’t have missed.

As Musa was crying out to Jesus to save him, the man then swung a machete. Musa put up his left arm in defense, and the machete cut off his left hand. The man swung again, this time cutting off his right thumb. Musa said he suddenly felt a surge of power come over him, and he was able to punch the guy with the arm, which was missing his hand, knocking him down.

Musa ran to his neighbor’s house where the wife answered the door, and fainted after seeing what had happened to him. The husband then took him to the Christian church that was about a half mile away to seek help from the pastor. They carried him to the hospital, which was an hour and a half away, where they finally were able to care for his wounds. From the time his hand was cut off, to the time he was sewed up, sixteen hours had transpired.

At times, doubt creeps in to invade my faith. I don’t want it there, but it still manages to make its way in. I believe God understands this, and allows amazing stories like Musa’s to cross our paths to let us know that there is a God who truly loves and cares for us. It strengthens my faith all the more from seeing the way that God delivered Musa.

I was able to see the amazing power of God work through Musa, because he told us that he loves and forgives the men. He also has had four men from the village come to him secretly, telling him that they had placed their faith and trust in Christ because of his witness. It has opened my eyes to see that God cares as much for the Muslims as he does for me. I thank God for allowing me to see this personally and to meet Musa. We can all learn a lot from his story."

'I Pity Lai Mohammed' - President Buhari Says

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday said one of the ministers he feels pity for is the Minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed who is saddled with the responsibility of explaining the progress or lack of it of this administration to people.

President Buhari said this when he hosted state house Press Corps members at the presidential villa in Abuja.

“One of the men I pity is Lai Mohammed. Everyday he is on TV explaining our performance or lack of it. The ministers sit down day and night to work. Some of them have literarily lost weight because they were sleeping less and eating less (while working on the budget).
They were working on every kobo to be spent. We recently just found out that we are poor because we don’t have anything to fall back to. This is the condition we found ourselves and this change mantra had to go through hell up till yesterday. And for you to talk to whoever came to visit us throughout that year, I wonder how each of your diaries would be, because people were expecting this change mantra in their own way. How do you define change? Luckily our party identified three major items, security, economy and corruption.”‎he said

Shocking : Nigerian Woman’s kidney Illegally Removed in Italy(Photos)

The Chairperson of the House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora Affairs, Rita Orji, has brought to the public the case of a Nigerian woman named Julie Osamese, said to be in her 30s, whose kidney was allegedly harvested by some doctors in Italy.
According to The Sun, Julie, a mother of one, who is a legal immigrant in Italy, had gone to the Ospedale Maria Vittoria Cibrario Hospital in Turin, Italy sometime in November 2008 to complain about her poor health.

At the time, she had a bit of fever and was given some drugs and asked to come back for revaluation one week later. Julie returned to the hospital one week later and the doctors allegedly gave her drugs which made her dizzy. It was gathered that as she complained to the doctors who attended to her, she was tied to the bed despite her protest. By the time she woke up, part of her buttocks had allegedly been chopped off, and her kidney tampered with. That was how she lost control of her bladder, leading to uncontrollable urination.

Speaking on the matter, the House of Representatives member, Rita Orji said: “After taking the drugs for one week, she came back to report how she was feeling. On that day, she was asked if she came to the hospital alone, and she said, ‘yes’ innocently without knowing the reason why that question was put across to her. That marked, the beginning of her paralysis. She was asked to lie down that they were going to give her some medication. Within two, three minutes, she was approached with a mixture in a cup and she drank it, believing that it was for the fever she complained of. But she became dizzy and she was telling them how she felt. But they said there was no problem. Suddenly, the team of doctors came around and tied her legs and her hands on the bed and she started shouting, ‘why are you tying me’? She said one of the doctors responded that she could shout at the top of her voice, but that nobody would know what was being done. That was how they faced her down and gave her injection on her base bone. After the injection, she passed out. When she finally regained consciousness, she saw that the lower part of the buttocks on both sides had been chopped off, to the extent that the bones  in her buttocks had cracked and she saw the pieces of the bones. Also her bladder was disengaged from the source with urine pouring out uncontrollably. In fact, she woke up on a catheter and a big plaster by the region of her kidney. They started moving Madam Julie from one hospital to the other. It is the norm that when you are being transferred to any hospital, the ambulance in which a patient is transferred goes with a medical report. But in Julie’s case, nothing like that was done. They dumped her into one ambulance to drop her in one home or the other without attaching her medical history. They kept her, thinking she would die. At a stage, she was only living on prayers. They finally dropped her at the seventh medical Centre. During our investigations, I asked what the reasons for moving her from one place to the other were. There is no answer to that. What they were telling us is that she is mentally Ill. She is diabetic. But I want to tell you that all these stories are unfounded. No one has the confirmation of these health conditions they told us she suffers from based on medical ground. On our arrival at that place, we conducted a test and found that Julie is not diabetic. The scan that was carried out on her, and we have the result, shows that her kidney was tampered with. This is what the woman has been shouting about for the past eight years, and nobody seems to believe her. Today it is Julie, tomorrow I don’t know who it will be. On their final stop, they dumped her in a mental home, a woman of thirty something years, dumped in a mental home that harbours old men and women that are demented.”

Also speaking on the matter, a medical doctor and another member of the committee who represents Itu/Ibiono Ibom federal constituency, Henry Okon -Archibong, says due to the poor treatment meted to Julie, she can never walk again
“From what happened, they might have tried to give her anaesthesia before they harvested the kidney. In doing that, they damaged the lumber and sacred nerves. So, there is no way Julie can walk again. Julie has been paralysed and the issue of walking has nothing to do with what we are calling for. She has to be compensated, the medical doctors that participated in what led to her current situation have to be dealt with as the law permits. Indeed, the committee is demanding that the Italian government investigate Julie Osamese’s case with a view to fishing out the medical personnel whose highly unprofessional conduct led to the loss of one of her kidneys and her permanent confinement to a wheelchair. The lawmakers are also asking for the highest form of compensation and a complete rehabilitation of the mother of one, who they said have been the subject of several protests by the Nigerian community in Italy. The action that will satisfy us as lawmakers starts from the whole world condemning the injustice meted out to an innocent person. We are saying that there should be a holistic compensation and a new medical team should conduct an analysis of Madam Julie’s situation and proffer the best way to get her life back on track. She has lost hope on the medical doctors around her. So, I will advise that they have to look for another medical team that are not from Turin to carry out this job.”

The lawmakers are demanding the minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama to institute a panel of inquiry into the matter with a view of determining the role of the staff of the Nigerian High Commission in Italy, whom they accused of negligence.

“You can’t believe that when the relations of this lady were at the hospital, a woman named Deborah  told them what she had been put through. She gave them documents to back her claims and told these relatives of hers to run to the Nigerian High Commission in Rome, to inform them of what happened. Those documents were given to one Madam Martina and Mr. Folorunsho who are staff of the commission. But no one asked after her (Osamese) since 2009. They never went to visit her. They didn’t even keep the documents handed over to them. When we demanded for them, they denied ever receiving the documents. For us, the recklessness of the Nigeria High Commission in Italy as at then, caused the terrible situation we see. Assuming they intervened on time, the situation of this woman will not be this bad,” Rita Orji added

Goodluck Jonathan's Phone Call to Concede Defeat Left me in Shock' - President Buhari Reveals

President Buhari yesterday revealed that the call from former President Jonathan conceding defeat before INEC had announced the results of the 2015 Presidential election, left him in shock.
Buhari disclosed this while speaking at the luncheon he organized for state house correspondents at the presidential villa yesterday May 30th.

"This is where I pay my respect to former President Goodluck Jonathan. This is actually a privileged information for you (journalists). He called me at a quarter past five in the evening. He said ‘Good evening your excellency’, and I said “Good evening your excellency’. He said I have called to congratulate you that I have conceded defeat. Of course there was dead silence on my end because I did not expect it. I was shocked. I did not expect it because after 16 years in government, the man was a deputy governor, a governor, a Vice-President and was President for six years. For him to have conceded defeat even before the result was announced by INEC, I think that was quite generous and gracious of him.”he said

In One Year, President Buhari & APC Ruined Nigeria’s Economy - Governor Fayose Blast

Outspoken Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has lamented that in just one year of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of President Mohammadu Buhari, the country’s economy was ruined so much that States could no longer pay workers’ salaries, millions of jobs were lost, prices of essential commodities skyrocketed to the extent that Nigerians could no longer afford common tomato to cook and the middle class wiped away completely.

In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said; “Despite President Buhari’s electoral promise to reduce petrol pump price from the N87 per litre that he met it and make life more bearable for Nigerians, he increased the price of petrol to N145, increased electricity tariff in spite of lack of power supply.” He said; “food scarcity last experienced when Buhari was military Head of State between 1983 and 1985 has returned to the country, with Nigerians being unable to feed.”

The governor who said Nigerians should remove party, ethnic and religious sentiments and ask themselves what they have benefitted in the last one year, reminded Nigerians that “Foreign Reserve was $28.6 billion, Excess Crude Account (ECA) was $2.07 billion, dollars was less than N200, petrol was N87 per litre and most importantly, one bag of rice was N8, 500 and power generation was over 5,000MW when Buhari assumed office.

The statement read in part; “Today, power generation is less than 1,400, Foreign Reserve has reduced to $26.5 billion, dollar is now over N350, petrol has increased to N145 per litre and one bag of rice is now over N15, 000!” “I read the president’s speech and all that I saw was a president still sounding like he was campaigning for votes more than one year after winning election.

It is disappointing that the President’s speech was once again about promises, not about what has been done. “Not even a mention of one kilometre of road tarred by this administration, no single job was created except the ones created in Central Bank of Nigeria for their cronnies and children, not a single megawatt of electricity generated. This is shameful.

“The reward Buhari gave to Nigerians for electing as president was to increase petrol pump price by N58.50 and get the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo to justify the increment by saying Nigeria was broke! “In other words, President Buhari increased petrol pump price because the country was broke and it needed to shore up its revenue base. The N58.50 added to the previous pump price of N86.50 was an Indirect Tax imposed on each litre of petrol purchased by Nigerians. “It is even more worrisome that we have a presidency that is not coordinated.

The president says one thing; his vice says another while his ministers also singing discordant tunes. This is a clear sign of cluelessness and unpreparedness for governance. “I cannot but agree with the position of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Obiageli Ezekwesili and others that President Buhari has no clue economically.

The situation of Nigeria today is like the visually impaired leading those who can see. But I warned Nigerians, and I am still warning Nigerians now that as it happened in 1984 when our President was a military Head of State, the economy of Nigeria may collapse! “Therefore, as we look forward to the end of the honeymoon of Buhari’s presidency, I wish to state that if supposed men of honour are going underground because of possible harassment and intimidation, I, Peter Ayodele Fayose will not; because this is our fatherland.

“Most importantly, those regarding President Buhari as a saint should know that he is not. The president is not also the Almighty God that cannot be questioned. After all, the beauty of democracy is in credible opposition.

“Today, I have expressed my mind concerning the one year of Buhari’s presidency as I did before the election. This I have done basically to remind Nigerians that I told them then, and it is happening now. “May God be with the President and bless Nigeria.”

This Video of Man Speaking on President Buhari's First Year in Office is Trending(Watch)

This video of one Mr Chido, a trader in Abuja speaking on President Buhari's one year in office is trending on twitter.
In the video, Mr Chido complained about the increase in price of most things in the market like rice and their store levy. According to him, the only thing that has not increased is the gate fee to the public toilet in the market which is still N30. Lol!

Mr Chido went further to say that the prices of commodities like Egusi and Ugwu leaves have increased. Chido said people no longer come to buy things in the market. He said the recovery of stolen money is not in anyway affecting the common man because the money is not their own. He said the present government should forge ahead. Watch the video below...

Peace Mass Transit Accident : Two Survivours Tell What Really Happened

According to hospital sources that handled the accident. Out of the 15 passengers in that bus, only two people survived - One of the survivors is Mrs. Chidinma Eze, a 32-year-old widow and businesswoman from Ubakala in Abia State. She is based in Port Harcourt. The other survivor is a 33-year-old dealer in cosmetics, based in Aba. And they have shared gory details about the accident below.

The rest died. It was gruesome. Sadly, there was a baby and a nine-year-old boy among the dead, according to a hospital source.

SunNewsonline reports that the first, a two-year-old girl, was travelling with her father. The boy might have traveled with another adult. They all perished in the accident. Their bodies mangled with the body of the bus.

“Blood flowed like river that day,” said the hospital staff. “It was a tragedy; I have never seen such a gory scene since I was born. The head of the driver was ripped open and one could see the brain from up. The crowd of people who besieged the scene of the crash was large. People wept like babies. Even some doctors could not bear the sight and ran away. It was a black Sunday morning.”

The ghastly auto crash happened at the Umuahia end of the Enugu/ Port Harcourt Expressway, precisely at the Ofeme Junction. It involved a MAN-Diesel engine truck, with registration number Plateau JJN 782 XB and a 18-seater Toyota Hiace bus, with registration number, AKL 895 YA, belonging to Peace Mass Transport company.

The accident, which occurred last Sunday, according to the people at the scene, was the worst in recent times. It was ghastly with heartrending rebounds.

According to the hospital staff:
“One lady was at the hospital the previous day in search of her daughter who bade them good bye that morning before she departed for her school at Enugu. We advised her to visit the mortuary. On her arrival there, she found her daughter among the corpses deposited there. She was devastated and could not believe it was true”. It was as bad as that!
It had been reported that all the 15 passengers in the bus died only for people to discover that two among them survived.

Speaking to Saturday Sun at the Federal Medical Center, Umuahia where she is recuperating, Chidinma, who sells diesel said that the bus loaded at Peace Mass Transit Central park in Aba and headed for Enugu.

“I live in Port Harcourt, but I had to come out to join the bus because I could not catch a direct bus going to Lokpanta where I do my diesel business. I was trying to catch sleep when the accident happened. Our bus crashed into the trailer head-on and the people inside the bus started screaming; some calling the name of Jesus, others calling their fathers and mothers. I think I fainted because I became conscious on the way to the hospital. When the Federal Road Safety Corps officials were taking us to the hospital, I had regained consciousness, but I did not open my eyes because I was feeling pains all over my body.”

She confirmed that there were 15 passengers inside the bus and the windows of the bus were shut because the air-conditioner was on. It was also raining heavily at the time .
“Immediately the bus crashed into that trailer, I lost consciousness. Whether the bus sommersalted or not, I didnot know. I can’t even remember the side through which I was brought out. All I can remember is that I was on the back seat with three other passengers.

“We had passed Abia Tower and heading to Okigwe. The driver was driving on a very high speed inside the rain. We entered the bus about 9am, but I did not check the time when we arrived at the spot where the accident occured,” she narrated.
Meanwhle, Chidinma was full of gratitude to God for saving her life:
“I can’t thank God enough. If human beings were the ones that select those who died in that accident, definitely, I would have been one of them. But just look at me, a poor sinner and God, in His infinite mercy, decided to save my life. God gave me life on top of life; brought me back from the land of the dead. You could see children, the elderly, the young and the handsome and beautiful, all stone dead. But God decided to keep me. It amazes me each time I look back at my life. I will remain grateful to God for the rest of my life.”

The second survivor, Nwodo, was traveling from Aba to his hometown, Akpugo, Enugu State. He had informed his parents that he was coming to see them that morning and they had even prepared a meal for him..

He boarded the bus to Enugu but it crashed in Umuahia. He had been counted among the dead and was taken inside the pick-up van belonging to the FRSC that took the corpses to the hospital. Nwodo was lying among of the dead when suddenly, at the intensive care unit of the hospital, he moved his body. Immediately, he was removed ftom the heap of corpses inside the van and rushed into the ward for medical attention.

When Saturday Sun visited the hospital, he was sleeping. It was said that he could not speak as he was badly wounded from his waist downwards.

A hospital source told Saturday Sun that initially, he could not breathe well until they inserted a pipe inside him to drain bad blood out of his body .
“The blood that was coming out of him was very black, now, the color is changing gradually.”

Emmanuel, his younger brother, who was with him in the hospital, said that one of the doctors called and informed him that his brother was involved in an accident and he came to see him.
“I am very happy because the information that was given to them was that everybody died in the accident except two people. I thank God that my brother is among the two survivors. I thank God who knows the reason why he brought him back to life; this is somebody who had already been counted among the dead.

“The doctor told me that he has injury in his spinal cord and on the head.
Four victims were brought into the hospital alive, but two died afterwards.

Among those who died was Obidiegwu Udogu, the first son of Chief Donald Udogu (SAN), an Aba-based legal practitioner. Tragically too, he died with his two-year-old daughter, Jasmine.

A relation told Saturday Sun that Obidiegwu left home that morning with his two-year-old daughter to see his mother in-law who resides in Enugu. Unfortunately, both the father and child did not arrive their destination safely. It was also learnt that the remains of the little girl were buried on Wednesday, while “the family would meet later to decide when Obidiegwu will be buried”.

Presidency Lists President Buhari’s Achievements After First Year in Office(See)

The presidency has released a list detailing all the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari in the last one year. He marks one year in office tomorrow May 29th. The list as published by the News Agency of Nigeria contains the following:

SECURITY:
The relocation of the Nigerian Military Command Centre to Maiduguri, since May 2015, contributed to the success in the fight against insurgency in the North Eastern part of the country.

As at February 2016, the total number of persons rescued by the Nigerian troops during the ongoing operations in the North East came to 11,595.

Since December 2015, the well-motivated and rejuvenated Nigerian Military have regained all Nigerian territories previously under Boko Haram control.

Prioritized regional cooperation in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency and violent extremism, through the operations of the 8,500 strong Multi-National Joint Task Force in N’Djamena, the capital of Chad, currently headed by a Nigeria military general.

Nigeria has provided $21million USD to the Task Force since June 2015 and is committed to an additional $79 million USD, bringing the total of Nigeria’s commitment to the Task Force to 100 million USD.

Cohesive international support in the fight against terrorism and assistance to victims and communities affected by terrorism, following President Buhari’s meeting with G7 leaders and other world powers.

In May 2016, Nigeria hosted a Regional Security Summit to boost military operations against Boko Haram and forge a global support for the rehabilitation of the IDPs and rebuilding of the North East.

In June 2015, the United States announced a 5-million-dollar support for the fight against the terrorists in the sub-region.

In April 2016, during the visit to Ms Samantha Power, the U.S Ambassador to the UN to Nigeria, Cameroon and Chad, the U.S Government further announced an additional $40 million USD for humanitarian assistance in the sub-region

Recruitment of additional 10,000 persons into the Nigeria Police Force is ongoing. The recruitment will address the manpower gap which currently exists in the Nigeria Police
Overhaul of the dysfunctional topmost hierarchy of the Nigerian military which resulted in optimal result and degradation of the Boko Haram elements.

Was able to bring back our hitherto military allies; which saw the United States and UK governments commit their resources to the fight against the insurgents after previously backing out of negotiations with the previous administration. The Israeli government has also indicated interest in the fight against insurgency.

Introduction of the motor cycle battalion (This is so that the Nigerian Army can travel to remote areas that were not accessible to cars/trucks)

Realigned our partnership with regional allies by embarking on foreign visits which resulted in bilateral and multilateral agreements to tackle insecurity back home.

No more roadblocks and curfews, which normally impeded free flow of movement.
Continuous monitoring of activities in the region of war through the use of satellite images and geographical information system is helping in fighting insurgency and strategizing against the enemy.

The trips to our neighbouring countries showed the resolve of the President to push Boko Haram elements out of existence by going for the jugular of the group, cutting their arms, food supply routes. Support has thus been mobilized through the Multinational Joint Task Force.

Another major stride is the Trans National Organized Crime (TNOC) where the president got partnership with regional allies in the fight against the proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons.

As part of the reconfigured military partnership, the United States donated 24 mine-resistant armoured vehicles (MRAP) which had protected the Nigerian troops from the menace of Improvised Explosive Devices. Today we have less causalities.

Reached out to the G7 countries and achieved the following: intelligence sharing; technical military training; arms deals/donations

Overhauling of NIMASA. A reversed policy of the past administration where national infrastructural assets were given to militia leaders to protect as against established bodies like the Nigerian Navy was stopped.

The President Buhari government has drafted the army to partner with other security agencies in ensuring the security of our national infrastructure and this is already yielding the desired results.

A major ring of pipeline vandals in Lagos state were captured recently in a joint operation by security forces led by the army.

The government has renewed its fight against oil bunkering
The Nigerian Navy has recorded tremendous success lately in apprehending vessels used by oil thieves. This operation has improved security on our water ways and it has also helped improve the revenue of government.

Deployment of sophisticated weapons to ensure vandalism is contained by setting up a pipeline security force in stamping out the menace.

Effective Management of the Separatist Biafran Movement

Improving the technical capacity of Nigerian Police Force. We now have a forensic lab and GSM tracking device. We now have a more IT integrated Police force.
Restructuring of Nigerian Immigration to stop cross border crimes.

NSCDC has become more proactive in the prevention of pipeline vandalization, with arrest of several pipeline vandals.

Joint operations involving various security outfits in curbing the menace of the herdsmen in the country has been set up.

The use of surveys and updated mappings across the country as strategies for preventing threats among ethnic groups in Nigeria.

CORRUPTION
Right from the moment he won the Presidential Election in 2015, the impression of the President as a ‘‘no nonsense and incorruptible leader’’ sent a signal to looters of public funds, with many of them returning funds that had been stolen under the previous administration.

To create a frame work for prosecuting the war against corruption and institutionalize probity, President Buhari set up an Advisory Committee on War Against Corruption.

The anti-corruption battle is gaining ground with several high profile cases already in the courts. The administration is being guided by the rule of law in the prosecution of corruption cases.

President Buhari enlisted the support of multilateral institutions like the World Bank and IMF, security agencies, Western countries and other friendly nations to locate and repatriate stolen assets.

At a London summit on anti-corruption, President Buhari announced that Nigeria will begin the full implementation of the principles of the OPEN contracting data standards.
In the first quarter of 2016, President Buhari embarked on trips to the Middle East to sensitize the governments on the need to repatriate stolen assets and hand over the looters for trial in Nigeria. In January, Nigeria and UAE signed Judicial Agreements on Extradition, Transfer of Sentenced Persons, Mutual Legal Assistance on Criminal Matters.

In March 2016, the Federal Government and the Swiss Government signed a Letter of Intent On the Restitution of Illegally-Acquired Assets forfeited in Switzerland. Under the agreement, Switzerland will repatriate $ 321 million USD illicitly acquired by the Gen. Sani Abacha family.

In March 2016, the Presidential Committee set up to probe contracts awarded by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) from 2011 to 2015 announced the recovery of over N7 billion from indicted companies and individuals.

ECONOMY
Implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) has provided greater visibility of government revenues and cash flows. Between June 2015 and April 2016, the Federal Government TSA collection clocked N3trillion.

To further instill fiscal discipline, President Buhari directed the closure of all multiple accounts in Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government, thereby plugging loopholes for leakages with new technology.

The opaque accounting structure of the NNPC has been reconstructed to be more transparent with the closure of more than 40 accounts. As a corporate entity, NNPC is now accountable and more transparent in operations, publishing its monthly financial reports.

Lagos state police command have arrested one Sogei Jafairu, a native of Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo state for allegedly killing his wife, Roselyn, over accusations of infidelity, at their home in Araromi Street in Oshodi area of Lagos yesterday May 27th.

According to Vanguard, Jafairu had traveled out of the state for a week and only returned home on Thursday May 26th. His wife Roselyn prepared food for them to eat which he allegedly poisoned.

Their 16 year old son, Richmond Sogei, narrating what happened said
“My daddy and mummy never ate together since I grew up knowing them as my parents. We only saw them eating together for the very first time yesterday (Thursday).

Mummy came back from the market with some drinks she said we would use to celebrate Children’s Day today (yesterday). We were surprised when we saw them eating beans and garri from same plate but concluded that it could be as a result of my kid sister’s birthday that was celebrated same day. We all went to bed without any thought of the unexpected. But at 3am my daddy woke me up and instructed me to go and meet my mum in the bedroom. I left the sitting room where I slept with my aunt and three siblings. As I was going to urinate, I saw daddy vomiting in the bathroom. I went outside to urinate and when I came back, I saw him lying down in the bathroom. When I flashed the torchlight, I noticed that he was vomiting some black substance. He also excreted on himself. Out of fear, I rushed to wake my aunt up to assist daddy. I also told her to wake mummy up to come and help daddy but she said that mummy was not responding. When I went inside and flashed my torchlight at her, I saw that the bed she laid on was socked with blood. On closer observation, I discovered a deep cut on her throat and passed out. Daddy initially said somebody broke into the room and killed mummy but we discovered that the gate was locked. Later he said I was the one that killed my mummy. How can I kill a mother that has been playing the role of a father to us?. She was even sponsoring my elder brother, Collins who just gained admission into the University. She was the bread winner. Twice, we have been sent packing by our landlords at Michael and Banjoko streets because daddy could not pay the rent. Why would anyone think of killing such person? “, he asked, crying.

A relative of the deceased, Feronica Imomoh, revealed that Jafairu had previously accused his wife of cheating on him.
“Our family had warned him to stop beating my sister. He does not have any job, she was the one feeding him and paying the rent.
Anytime she collected gifts from her relatives, he would quarrel with her, accusing her of sleeping with men. There was a time he took him to our village in Edo State to swear before a shrine that she was not cheating on him. Just yesterday (Thursday) he demanded N10, 000 from her. She promised to raise the money by borrowing from her friends”.
Confirming the incident, the Deputy Spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Chukwuma Ozoani said:”It was a murder case and the husband was suspected to be under the influence of drug. The case has been transferred to the SCID and investigation has commenced.” See graphic photo of the deceased below...
