See This Gay Music Video Sparking Outrage In Kenya(Watch Video)

Kenya’s attempt to stop people from watching a music video celebrating gay couples is backfiring.

Barely three weeks after trying to ban a local rap artist’s remake of Same Love, by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Google Kenya has refused to pull the video from YouTube, where it has now been viewed over 140,000 times.

Kenyan regulators banned the video in late February, claiming that the content threatens to turn the country into “Sodom and Gomorrah” and declaring that anyone caught distributing it would be punished. But the agency that banned it also retweeted a link to it—which ended up bringing more attention to Kenya’s nascent gay rights campaign.

The video, made by Art Attack, is a snapshot of being gay in Kenya, where homosexuality is considered an “unnatural offense” punishable by imprisonment up to 14 years in prison. The chorus, “I can’t change even if I tried,” plays over a montage of newspaper articles headlined, “A disease worse than alcohol” and “Homos are filthy.”

The video cuts to images of anti-gay protests in Nairobi last year, ahead of US president Barack Obama’s visit, and two young women kissing on a bench in a forest, away from the public eye.

The video also features photos of the writer Binyavanga Wainaina, one of the few openly gay Kenyan public figures, as well as George Barasa, a Kenyan gospel artist who came out in 2013. “Somebody has to stand and speak against what is going on,” Barasa told Reuters earlier this month.

A lawyer for Google Kenya told the Kenya Films Classification Board (KFCB), the country’s regulator of all visual content, that it cannot take down the video because it operates separately from YouTube, according to local media reports over the weekend.

A spokesperson for Google in the US told Quartz by email, “YouTube has clear policies that outline what content is acceptable to post and we remove videos violating these policies when flagged by our users. We review government removal requests when notified through the correct legal processes and in keeping with our company philosophy on transparency and freedom of expression.”

Even the head of KFCB, Ezekiel Mutua admits that homosexuality is an evolving issue in Kenya. Matua told local media that the country is dealing with a “war of ideologies” and that if a homosexual man applied for a job with the regulator he would not be turned away.

“But if they kisses another man in public,” he added, “they will be condemned.” Watch the video below...

Shocking : Young Man Brutally Beaten And Burnt to Death Over N10 in Apo, Abuja(See Photos)

A young man identified as Ikechukwu Anigbo was reportedly killed and burnt to death over the weekend around a relaxation centre in Apo Mechanic Village, Abuja.

According to reports, the deceased, a 32-year-old barber from Aku, Enugu State took a bike and argument ensued between him and the motorcycyclist when he paid. The man insisted his money is N60 instead of N50. It was alleged that attracted his colleagues to the scene by shouting "thief". The mob gathered and started beating Ikechukwu after which they set him ablaze.

Confirming the tragic incident, Mr. Ezema Virginius Chukwudike, the taskforce chairman of Abuja Spares Dealers Association, Apo, said "The mob that gathered following the alarm collected tyres from a vulcanising workshop near the scene and set the deceased on fire"

The next day, angry Igbo men in Apo blocked the road and started attacking any vehicle or Keke Napep with Hausa person or people who look like Hausa. Fortunately, the police were able to stop the riot before it escalated.

Speaking to Daily Trust, a friend of the deceased, Chukwudi Orji said he learnt about Ikechuwu's death when he got home at about 11p.m.

"I saw the fire, but I did not know that someone was inside. There was smoke everywhere; there was no way you would have known that there was someone in the fire, except you were there or somebody told you about it," he said.

"If I had known about it on time, I would have tried to save him because he was innocent," he added.

Speaking further, Mr Chukwudike said, "When news of the incident spread, people became angry. They wondered why the motocyclists would burn an innocent man. Even the man who voluntered to carry the corpse after he had been killed, was chased away"

He said this is not the first time that motorcyclists are killing someone over a paltry sum of money.

"A similar thing happened in Kabusa, when a boy was stabbed because of change. Another man was killed on Wumba road. The same change issue led to the death of a man in Damagaza. In his case, after he was killed, they kept him near a river until the next day," he said.

Chukwudike said the last time such an incident occurred in the area, the traders protested and that it took the intervention of riot policemen to bring the situation under control.

"Because the motorcyclists knew what they did, they boycotted this route from Sunday evening until policemen were deployed to the area."

Azeez Akinola, Anigbo’s boss at the barbershop, corroborated Chukwudike story, saying the attitude of motorcyclists in the area is a cause for concern. Akinola who lives around the area where the late Anigbo lived, said he and two other people rushed out of their houses when they received news of the incident, but that the motorcyclists at Kabusa junction refused to take them to the scene.

Akinola who had worked with Anigbo for more than four years in a small barbershop at NEPA Junction, Apo, said it took them a longtime to find a motorcycle to convey them.

He said when they arrived the scene, they saw several people with sticks, but that they did not understand the magnitude of what had happened until someone pointed to the corpse of Anigbo in the fire.

"I could not believe it. There were heaps of iron treads from the burnt tyres on his body," Akinola said amidst tears.

"He was very gentle," Akinola continued." If small wound touch am, he go treat am for more than one week. I.K. can’t ride a bicycle, talk less of motorcycle.  Because of fear, he refused to learn driving despite the fact that they were many people around to teach him," he said.

He said the matter was reported at the Apo Police Station, where he wrote a statement before police officers took the corpse to a mortuary.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the FCT police command, ASP Anjuguri Manzah said, "there was an early morning disagreement between two opposing groups that could have resulted in a clash but it was averted by the timely intervention of anti-riot police personnel."

Manzah said the FCT Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu, warned people of the area to desist from violence at the wake of the disagreement and promptly deployed police officers to the scene. The commissioner assured residents of the area and other parts of FCT that adequate measures have been deployed to contain the situation, investigate and unravel the remote and underlying issues behind the upheaval.

He reiterated that any attempt to jeopardise the existing peaceful and serene atmosphere in the Federal Capital Territory will not be tolerated. Though normalcy has returned to the area, the relative peace enjoyed may not last for long if a lasting solution is not proffered. Chukwudike said government should stop motorcyclists from arming themselves with daggers.

"Why should government allow them to move around with daggers unchallenged?" he asked.
There are several versions of the incident, while some insist that the late Anigbo did not commit any crime, some alleged that he attempted to snatch the motorcycle he rode to the junction but was overpowered by the motorcyclists. However, it is hoped that the police through their investigation will be able to give a clearer picture of what actually transpired. See more photos below....

T.B Joshua is a Liar And a Fake - Malawi President Blast(Read Why)

Yesterday, the president of Malawi Peter Mutharika slammed Prophet T.B Joshua over a prophecy he made recently. Sometime in January, T.B Joshua said a president in Southern African will die before April 1st.. "End of February to April this year, peculiar months for Southern Africa." Joshua said

Reacting, Mutharika, who became president in 2014 said “I’m told there is a man in Nigeria called Joshua and he is saying that Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe and Peter Mutharika will die before April 1. Let me tell you, Joshua… you will fail. What you did in 2012 will not happen again this year,” the president said on state TV. Now, what did Joshua do in 2012 that got the president scared?

In 2012 Joshua said  He predicted the death of a president of an unnamed southern African country. Mutharika’s brother, Bingu, who was president at the time, died within the predicted time frame.

President Mutharika then used his church building collapse to mock Joshua
"Why did he not foretell this tragedy? This all shows that he is a liar. He just wants to raise money”

Lai Mohammed Denies Saying Federal Government Has Lost Control of The Nigerian Economy

Recently, there were reports that the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said that the Federal Government had lost control of the Nigerian economy.
The reports alleged that he said this while fielding questions from a radio station in Abuja.
However, Lai Mohammed who was a guest on Channels TV this morning, said the report is totally false.
"It is completely false. I saw the report and I spoke with the editor online of Thisday and he told me this was the story that was filed by his correspondent. That story was supposed to have emanated from a live interview I had with Radio Lagos FRCN and nothing like that happened.

Yes, it is true that I said that we inherited an economy where the price of crude went down and that that is not our making. That is not synonymous to saying that the economy is out of control. Yes the economy might be gloomy but the government is working to get it out of the mess"he said.
On whether APC was fair in its criticism of the last administration, Lai Mohammed said "Absolutely"

He said though the APC led government is facing the same challenges the PDP government faced, the present government was handling the various challenges in a much more robust and positive way. According to Lai, the Federal government has tackled terrorism and corruption within the last 9 months "Within nine months we have been able to tackle terrorism. Within nine months we have been able to tackle the issue of the corruption vice"he said He spoke on the recovered Abacha loot, saying that the funds will be utilized judiciously. Lai maintained that Saboteurs and vandals were largely responsible for the poor power supply experienced in the country.

Church Bans Topless Dresses to Weddings, Receptions

The Anglican Arch-Diocese of Enugu State has officially banned wearing of topless dresses to Church weddings, reception and services.

The Archbishop of the Arch-Diocese, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, disclosed this to NAN in Enugu today.

Chukwuma said that the ban was to return moral chastity on persons, especially women, who attend such functions in the Church.

He said that t Arch-Dioceses had directed priests and senior clergymen to henceforth inspect wedding gowns and approve them before the solemnisation of weddings.

The cleric also said that using veils to cover topless wedding dresses would not be allowed again in Anglican Churches in Enugu.

“I have directed ushers and wardens in various churches in Enugu to ensure that no topless dressed girl, lady or women enters into the Church under any guise.”

He said the order would be in force: “Whether it is the Church wedding, reception or any other programme celebrated in the church or within the church premises.”

“We would collaborate with the governors’ wives to organise seminars and workshops for fashion designers in the zone for them to join this campaign.

“Fashion designers should be instrumental in dissuading our girls and mothers from the habit of wearing topless dresses,” he said.

The archbishop said that the Church`s strong stance against indecent dressing would help to check sexual harassment and provocation, which lead to prostitution and rape in the society.

Let's be Fair on The MD of Lekki Homes - AY The Comedian

Popular comedian/actor AY, who was once an ambassador of Lekki Gardens, has written an open letter to Nigerians asking people to be fair to the MD of Lekki Gardens, Richard Nyong who was arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ebutte Metta over the death of 35 people in the collapse of a 5-storey building which was being constructed by his company in Lekki, Lagos. Read AY's letter which he posted on his Instagram page below...

"The Collapse of the Lekki Garden building is indeed an unforeseen tragedy that still hits me all the way to my soul. My deepest sympathy and condolences to those people who have died, been hurt and people who lost their love ones. As a one-time ambassador to Lekki Gardens, it will be difficult to disengage myself from the company whose vision was designed to help every common man to becoming landlords in Nigeria. In times like this we are one family. Let us standup and pray for all the families who have suffered and wish them peace in knowing that their loved ones may have gone on ahead of them to be with God Almighty. I know there is nothing I can say to ease anyone's sorrow, but this is just to let these families know that my thoughts are with them. As we sympathize with the families of the bereaved, let me clearly state that every human life is of inevitable value. No sentiment or general conviction would justify the sacrifice of human life. For this reason I have maintained a position of silence because of my affiliations with Lekki Gardens. The care of human life and property is one of the core responsibilities of a good government. Hence I will also not blame the government and their ‘quick response’ actions against the management of Lekki Gardens. Finally, I do know that the social Media is now for the good, the bad and the ugly. It is even more of an open battlefield, where abuses fly from one to another, destroying lives, self-esteem and individual self-worth. As much as I still believe in the vision of Mr Richard Nyong’s Lekki Garden Real Estate project that has delivered over 6,000 homes to Nigerians, I want to hold hands with the Lekki Gardens family and grow stronger during this time of despair, and pray for a man whom has become a victim of circumstance. A man who truly cares for others. A man who has helped a lot of people within and outside his community. A man who single handedly handled the constructions and repairs of Government roads within Lekki. A creator of employment to thousands. This is not to position him above the law, it is a beacon for fairness within due process, peace and justice. #letsbefair ".
