Donald Duke----Jonathan told me & Obasanjo he never wanted to be Vice-President
Former governor of Cross River state Donald Duke says former President Jonathan told him and former president Obasanjo he never wanted to be the Vice president of Nigeria when he was selected to be the running mate to late President Umaru Yar'Adua for the 2007 general election. Donald Duke said this in an interview with news magazine, The Interviewer
"You don’t give authority to an unwilling person, particularly in a country like Nigeria. Umaru never wanted to be president. He was dealing with his health issues and wanted to retire and go lecture in a university. He was really offered an appointment at the Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria. Jonathan, on the other hand, had just been re-elected to be governor of Bayelsa and when he was picked, he was not so pleased. He said to Obasanjo and me, ‘I don’t want this job".
Man kills 3 over bitterleaf plant in Edo
Tragedy struck, Sunday, at Ibillo, Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, when a man popularly known as Alhaji, murdered three persons including a three year old boy, after a quarrel over the ownership of a bitter leaf plant in the compound.
The sad incident occurred at Ogo quarters Ibillo Sundayevening. The three killed includes a man identified as Mr Aliu Ademo, a girl called Favour and a little boy Isaac, who later died yesterday morning at the hospital.
Vanguard learnt that trouble started when the Alhaji had a heated quarrel with the daughter of a Co-tenant called Favour over the bitter leaf plant in the compound. It was said that Alhaji went to harvest the vegetable without the consent of the owner which angered the daughter of the woman, Favour.
Former Pres. Obasanjo--"I remain a party-less Nigerian"
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said for the time being, he remains a ‘party-less Nigerian’
Speaking to the governor of Kogi state,Captain Idris Wada (retd.) and his delegation during a courtesy visit to his Abeokuta Hilltop residence,he said party does not matter as long as one is a committed leader..
“We should understand first that, not the party makes the person, but the person makes the party. It is who you are that you bring into the party.Though for now I remain a “party-less”
Man stabbed his girlfriend to death after s*x in Calabar
A 30-year-old man, Richard Effiok, on Monday confessed to stabbing his girlfriend after three rounds of sex. Effiok, who identified his deceased girlfriend as Bassey Udoh (23), said the incident happened on May 22, 2015, at Nelson Mandela Street in Calabar, Cross River State.
According to Punch, the suspect made the confessional statement at the headquarters of the state police command on Diamond Hill Road, when he was paraded along with other suspected criminals by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Henry Fadairo.
