DPO Reportedly Beats up Female Traffic Warden



 A Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ikenne Division, Ogun State, Patrick Onwu, has been accused of beating up a female traffic warden, Anifat Bello, for stopping his private car at NNPC junction, on IBB Boulevard in Ogun state yesterday April 11th.

According to Vanguard, the traffic warden who has been been severally honoured for her dedication to duty, stopped the private vehicle of the DPO for beating traffic. Unknown to her, the man was her superior. Eyewitnesses say the DPO came down immediately and pounced on her for having the audacity to stop his vehicle despite allegedly disobeying traffic laws.

While confirming the incident, the Ogun state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the matter has been reported to the state Commissioner of Police who has expressed his sadness over the matter and ordered a thorough investigation.

 “The woman traffic officer has reported the matter to the CP and he has directed that the matter be thoroughly investigated. The CP was not happy when the woman came with a swollen face. If the allegation is true, I am very sure the CP will know what to do.”

UNIPORT Final Year Student Killed By Police During Protest In Port Harcourt(Photos)




 A popular figure in the Student Union body at the University of Port Harcourt, Comrade Peter was shot dead by police while protesting the increase in tuition fees today.

 Comrade Peter, the President of the Faculty of Management Science joined other students at the University Of Port Harcourt this morning to protest hike in tuition fee before some mobile policemen opened fire on him.

The final year student was rushed to the hospital moments after he was shot.

 Sadly, Comrade Peter was pronounced dead on arrival at the OB Lulu Briggs hospital in Okrika Rivers State this afternoon.


UNIPORT students have taken social media to blame President Buhari for Comrade Peter’s death.




Man Stabs Friend To Death Over N2,000



 The remains of one Kamoli Isiaka, 37, who was stabbed to death by his friend Azeez, last week, at Ololade Street at Morogbo community, have been committed to mother earth at a Muslim burial ground at Iyana Isashi.

It was gathered that the late Isiaka and his friend, Azeez, had issue  over N2,000 given to them by one Mr. Ololade in the neighbourhood, which led to the former being stabbed in the neck by the latter.

It was gathered that the family and friends of the deceased had already gone to Badagry General Hospital to retrieve the remains for burial according to Muslim rites.


Before  burial, family members took  the corpse to the Baale of Ayetejuesefo community in Elija, where the alleged suspect fled to  after committing the crime.

According to the deceased step-brother, Alfa, “the man, whom they named the street after, gave Isiaka, and two of his friends N2,000 for a reason yet to be known. It was while they were sharing the money that Isiaka and Azeez began to fight. While people who were around tried to intervene , Azeez rushed into his house, picked a bottle, broke it and stabbed Isiaka.

Immediately neighbours around tried to save isiaka’s life by taking him to the hospital, unfortunately, he died on the way due to loss of much blood.”

Married Mother of Five Dies in Hotel Room, Lover Flees



 A female lodger, identified only as Joy and said to be married with 5 kids, has been found dead in a room at the Triple F Hotel, Randle Road, in the Apapa, Lagos State.

 It was learnt that Joy, who hailed from Benue State, had checked into the hotel on Friday with a male partner.

However, when the woman was discovered dead, the lover had reportedly sneaked out of the hotel.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the matter was reported at the Apapa Police Division, while policemen came to remove Joy’s corpse and deposited it in a morgue.

A resident of Randle Road, who gave his name only as Matthew, said the hotel workers discovered Joy’s remains when it was time for her to check out of the hotel and they did not see her.

He added that there were no sign of torture on her body to suggest unnatural death.
He said, “Joy was a mother of five children.

She was a food seller. She ran a restaurant close to the Police Complex in Apapa. She was married to a man from Enugu State.

“The hotel workers on Friday, during the time Joy was to check out, went to her room to remind her. The door was locked and they knocked on the door. After several knocks and no answer, they forced the door of the room open. They were shocked to find her dead.

“They raised the alarm and the matter was reported at the police station. The woman had come to the hotel with a partner.”

When our correspondent reached out to the manager of the hotel on the telephone, the man, who did not give his name, declined comment on the incident.

Our correspondent learnt from a police source that the police had invited the hotel workers on duty as investigation had started to unravel the cause of Joy’s death.

It was gathered that the police had also launched a manhunt for the lover who came to the hotel with Joy.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident.

She, however, said the police found marks of torture on Joy’s body.

She said, “The female lodger died while she was with the fleeing suspect. There were marks of violence on her body. The corpse has been deposited in a morgue for autopsy while investigation is ongoing to track the suspect.”
