It's Time to Peg Marriage Age In Nigeria - Emir of Kano
The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II says its time to peg marriage age in the country. He said this while speaking at a conference of Northern Muslims Religious Leaders Forum on Primary Health care in Kano yesterday May 24th, Sanusi spoke strongly against child marriage. According to him, the health challenge faced when a girl is exposed to child marriage is enough reason to discontinue the practice.
"I believe the time is ripe to take a stand on this age long practice of early marriage, and coincidentally we subscribed to Malikiyya school of thought like Morocco, Malaysia and Egypt who had since pegged marriage age to 17, 19 and 18 respectively”. Sanusi added that the role of a woman as a housewife are numerous and highly demanding and hence a girl should be allowed to have attained some level of maturity before she is married off. On domestic violence in marriages, Sanusi said it was not Islamic for men to hit their wives. He added that he had already told his daughters to retaliate if they experience such “I don’t expect my in-law to lay his hand on my daughter, but I have since urged her to retaliate any form of assault from her husband”.

PHCN Pays N45M Compensation to Family of Beautiful 1st Class Undergrad UNILAG Student Electrocuted Outside Her Hostel
The family of Oluchi Anekwe, a 300-level student of Accounting in the University of Lagos, who was electrocuted by a live wire on the school premises, has been paid N45m as compensation, following her tragic death.
A source said that the money was paid after the Eko Electricity Distribution Company reached a non-disclosure agreement with the victim’s family.
In September 2015 Oluchi, a first class student of UNILAG, was electrocuted at about 7pm, while returning from an evening mass with her younger sister.
Oluchi had reportedly entered the Eni Njoku Hall to buy an item and was walking out of the hostel when a high-tension wire fell on her. The remains of the Igbo-Etiti, Enugu State indigene, were buried shortly after. The Federal Government also set up a panel to investigate the death.
A Lagos-based human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, reportedly took up the case and wrote EKEDC, asking that the firm compensate the family or risk litigation, Punch Metro reports.
After series of meetings, the power firm buckled and settled with the family. A source said:
"They agreed and paid N45m in a non-disclosure agreement. This means the agreement is not to be disclosed to the public. It is supposed to be a private arrangement between the company and the girl’s family.
“The reasoning is that if it is publicised, it could encourage people who have similar grievances to insist on monetary settlements. That might not augur well for the company. The victim’s younger sister has also been flown abroad for treatment for the injuries she sustained in the incident.”
When contacted, Oluchi’s father, Chief Basil Anekwe, refused to confirm if any money was paid to his family, saying instead that the victim’s younger sister was abandoned in an American hospital.
He said, “Which money are you talking about? Where did you get the information? Well, I don’t have an idea of what you are talking about; I am in Enugu right now.”
Probed further if the family had received any payment, he said: “Do not ask me because I do not know you. You cannot hear anything from me. Go and confirm from the person that gave you the information. Write that I said I have nothing to say about it. I stopped the negotiation process because my daughter was abandoned in an American hospital and I had to go and get her.”
Photos : Drake & Rihanna Are Engaged After he Proposed With $1m Ring - MTO Reports
Guess why these celebs hate MTO... MediaTakeOut are reporting that Rihanna and Drake are engaged and Drake proposed to her with a $1million ring. Really? Lol. The rumour started because Rihanna stepped out in that ring at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. Read the report below:
"MediaTakeOut.com just learned that Rihanna and rapper Drake are engaged – or at least that’s what they’re trying to get us to believe. We spoke with our ultra super reliable Rihanna insider who tells us that Drake gave Rihanna a $1million 16 Carat diamond ring – which she wore to last night’s Billboard Music Awards.
And while we can’t say for 100% certain whether the ring is meant to be an engagement ring, we’re told that Rihanna and Drake are NO LONGER just casually dating. The insider explained, “Drake is Robyn’s man. He’s not with anyone else, and neither is she.”
Check out the below pic: If you recall, Rihanna and Drake were hot and heavy back in 2014. Drake followed Rihanna to London, and the two were caught kicking a man out a public restaurant bathroom for a little privacy time. More importantly, Drake gifted Rihanna at $42,000 yellow diamond ring back then. That one didn’t spell wedding bells. But this $1 million dollar stunner is certainly nothing less than a trip to the altar.
