Photo : Nigerian Man Reveals How He Was Prosecuted And Almost Killed For Converting To Christianity In Northern Nigeria

Brent Hail, a Jacksonville resident and Tyler firefighter recently traveled to Nigeria for the first time to visit with missionaries who are supported by Fellowship Bible Church in Jacksonville.

He and the missionaries traveled to northern Nigeria to pick up Musa who was allegedly prosecuted and almost killed after converting to Christianity. Read his story below:
"The day started pretty early because we had a long way to go. We were going to pick up a man in a town in northern Nigeria. The story had gotten back to us of an amazing way God had delivered him at his village from being killed for his faith. As the van left with me and five other travelers, I wanted to see God in an amazing way. I wasn’t disappointed.

This story is about a man named Musa, who, this past January, almost lost his life for converting to Christianity. As we headed northeast in northern Nigeria, I could tell that we were heading into areas that were almost completely Muslim. We were traveling to the village where it happened. I had heard about Musa and his incredible story through one of the missionaries our church supports.

Four hours later we finally pull up to the spot where it all happened. Musa walked us to the mud house where it all took place. He began by telling us that two years ago he became a Christian as a result of one of the outreaches to his village.

Most of the village was either pagan or Muslim, so when he converted he was seen as an outsider of sorts. Let me say quickly that Islam is not the enemy here. There is a much bigger enemy who uses Islamic radicals to carry out horrible things against people.

After his conversion, Musa told people in his village that he was a Christian and that he wanted them to know that Jesus truly cared and loved them. The leaders of the village didn’t like that, so they were going to make it difficult for him.

They took his wife and married her to another man in the same village. They then approached him with a large sum of money wanting to denounce his faith and come back to Islam, but Musa refused. They then brought him several women for the same purpose, but he still refused.

One night, two people from his village came to his mud hut at midnight, kicked in his door and told him that this was going to be his last night on earth. One of them had a gun. As the man fired, Musa reached around to feel the exit hole from the bullet, but it wasn’t there. The man was standing approximately five feet away, so surely he couldn’t have missed.

As Musa was crying out to Jesus to save him, the man then swung a machete. Musa put up his left arm in defense, and the machete cut off his left hand. The man swung again, this time cutting off his right thumb. Musa said he suddenly felt a surge of power come over him, and he was able to punch the guy with the arm, which was missing his hand, knocking him down.

Musa ran to his neighbor’s house where the wife answered the door, and fainted after seeing what had happened to him. The husband then took him to the Christian church that was about a half mile away to seek help from the pastor. They carried him to the hospital, which was an hour and a half away, where they finally were able to care for his wounds. From the time his hand was cut off, to the time he was sewed up, sixteen hours had transpired.

At times, doubt creeps in to invade my faith. I don’t want it there, but it still manages to make its way in. I believe God understands this, and allows amazing stories like Musa’s to cross our paths to let us know that there is a God who truly loves and cares for us. It strengthens my faith all the more from seeing the way that God delivered Musa.

I was able to see the amazing power of God work through Musa, because he told us that he loves and forgives the men. He also has had four men from the village come to him secretly, telling him that they had placed their faith and trust in Christ because of his witness. It has opened my eyes to see that God cares as much for the Muslims as he does for me. I thank God for allowing me to see this personally and to meet Musa. We can all learn a lot from his story."

Photos : Monster Alligator Spotted as it Casually Strolls Across Golf Course

There is nothing unusual about seeing a hazard on a golf course, but one playing group were recently given a particular fright by an enormous alligator casually strolling across the course during play.

The dinosaur-like gator looked even bigger when another man came into the frame to take a picture - but apparently he is quite a regular sight in the area.

'People people have heard that he is out here and that is all they want to see so they will bring spectators to ride so somebody can get a picture,' golf course employee Wendy Schofield told News 3.

'He doesn't bother anybody and they don't bother him, he's like a mascot for the course, which is owned by Manatee County.'

'He has been here for a very, very long time, he's not new at all.

'There have been guesses that he's 15 to 16 feet long.

'The word has spread that this is a great place to come and play. He is the highlight, but we are worth the price too.'

Teenager Dies While Undergoing Illegal Female Circumcision

A 17-year-old Egyptian teenage girl, Mayar Mohammad, tragically lost her life due to severe bleeding and a drop in blood circulation after she was subjected to an illegal female genital mutilation (FGM) surgery in a private hospital in Suez, Egypt.

According to local media reports, the girl’s mother is a nurse, while their late father was a surgeon. So you'd expect the mother to know not to let her daughter go through such backward torture, all in the name of tradition.

FGM has been banned in Egypt since 2007, but the brutal practice is still being practiced illegally in the country and especially in rural areas. In February, the United Nations Children Fund (Unicef) said in its annual report on FGM that Egypt witnessed a significant decline of FGM prevalence but still 48% of girls underwent FGM in 2014 compared with 78% in 2008.

The death of Mayar was the first reported in three years and authorities immediately ordered the closure of the private hospital. Egypt’s governmental National Council for Women condemned the unlawful surgery and said in a statement that “performers of such criminal operations must face strict penalties.”

Abdul Abdelaty, a human rights lawyer during an interview with the Middle East Eye website said that even though the operation is illegal, it is really cheap. “Doctors ask between $1 and $15 to do it (FGM) because there is a high demand and a constant flow of cash. The economic aspect – it is really important, and it can be stopped only by enforcing the law,” the lawyer said.

According to Gulf News website, friends of the 17-year-old victim blamed her mother for subjecting her own daughter to FGM.

The teenager's classmate, Rawan Al Jamal said in a Facebook post:
“Mayar died due to ignorance and backwardness of her mother, who regarded her daughter as guilty only because she was created a female”.

Photos : Young Girl Dating A Married Man Gets Bathed With Acid in Abuja

This 26-year old lady Jamila Musa, who works with Flour Mills of Nigeria, was on Sunday, bathed with acid in her home.

According to TheNation, at about 10pm, she heard a familiar voice at her door, saying he had a message from her boyfriend. Jamila, who suspects her boyfriend’s wife for her ordeal, said she recognised the voice as that of the wife’s brother and that was why she opened the door.

Her words:
“A minute to 10pm on Sunday, I was sleeping in my room when I heard a knock on my door. I didn’t recognise the voice immediately but now I am sure of the voice. He said
my boyfriend sent him to give me a message.
“My boyfriend usually sends motorcycle operators to me so I assumed he was the one that sent this one and as I was trying to open the door, he poured the acid on my face. I rushed outside, I could not shout for about five minutes but when I started shouting, my neighbours gathered and washed my face with soap; they applied honey and pap to it before rushing me to the hospital.
“I suspect his wife sent someone to attack me, I did not know at first that he was married but when I realised it, I tried to cut him off. I only knew that he was married when his wife started sending me text messages, insulting and threatening me, I even told him that I was going to report her to the police but he asked me to leave her alone.
“I have reported to the Zuba police station and they said they will arrest my boyfriend, his wife and her brother.”
Jamila has also accused the management of the Kubwa General Hospital hospital of negligence. She said she is afraid of losing her sight.
“But this people here are not attending to me, I feel as if my condition is now worse, compared to when I came; I can no longer see well, the acid did not affect my eyeballs so I believe that when the swelling reduces, I will see again. But they are not attending to me, if they cannot treat me, they should refer me elsewhere, they should take care of me, I don’t want to lose my sight.

“Look at my face, I want to recover from this, the acid did not affect my eyeball, I can see the reflection of light from the windows, I just want the swelling to go down but I feel abandoned, they treat others and abandon me, if they cannot do it, they should refer me to another hospital. This thing was not like this when I came here; I am scared; I don’t want to rot here.”
Medical Director Dr. Amadu Danfulani said doctors have been treating her since she was admitted on Sunday.

“We have not neglected her, she is being treated; she was treated this morning and given her regular medication. She is in pains but we cannot give her an overdose of pain relief, we will till the appropriate time to give her the medication but she is in good hands and we are taking care of her.”

The doctor in charge of Jamila’s case, Dr Okuonghu Frank hoped that her sight will be better when the swelling reduces.
“Her fears of blindness are because of the swelling but once the swelling reduces, hopefully, she will see better. But that is not to say everything is okay because there are some follow-ups to do.
“She has the right to be scared but with adequate management, she will get better. Hers is different, she was not seriously burnt, it is superficial burns, her skin was not really burnt.” he said.

Jamila’s co-worker, Banji Johnson, described her as gentle and hard working.
“We have worked together for about a year and half, she is not troublesome, never quarrels with anyone, free and extremely hard-working so we were surprised at what happened to her. We mobilised ourselves to visit her as soon as we heard the news in the office. We believe that with God, all things are possible and she will get better. We appeal to the hospital to take care of her.”
Jamila’s younger sister, Hassana confessed that she did not recognise her sister when she visited her at the hospital.

“We don’t stay together, my elder sister called me yesterday to say someone poured Jamila acid and when I came to check on her, I could not recognise her. Our father is dead but our mother is still alive and on her way here.”

Singer Skales & His Manager Remanded In Police Custody After Confessing To Fraud

Popular singer Skales and his Manager Osagie have allegedly been remanded in  Police Custody after confessing to various charges of fraud and diversion of Baseline Records funds.

They are currently assisting the Police in unraveling the extent of the fraud running into tens of millions of naira. And this story is according to Wale Ewedemi,  an inside source for Baseline records.

Wale wrote on Instagram that at the inception of the contract, Skales was given a fully furnished luxury apartment in Lekki in a gated estate, with a brand new customized SUV. And a multimillion Naira sign on Fee.

The record label also gave him a free hand to select and run his brand, supported by a multimillion naira corporate expense account.

Skales behavior has reduced the appetite of the Record label to assist other young talents to achieve their full potential.

Freeze CoolFM shared his thoughts about the incident saying:
@kaylahoniwo and I talked about this on @coolfmlagos today on the #RoadShow.
Many of these artistes are from the hood. One small hit and they upgrade their transportation from Marwa and Molue to a 2006 Range Rover or G wagen with 2014 bodykit, then they upgrade their housing from mushin or Aj city to LEKKI phase one....
But the problem is they don't upgrade their minds!!! They do business with intelligent and witty entrepreneurs while using their 'Molue mentality', not realizing that a contract is a contract and GRA-GRA cannot break it!
The other day DJ Zeez was asked to pay his record label N21m, then the vector issue, then Runtown was issued a court injunction restraining him from performing and now skales allegedly sleeping inside police cell!!
Upcoming artistes abeg make una learn how to read book, no be everything be swag, no be everything be gra-gra! Please don't jump and sign your life away for a plate of porridge!
UPGRADE YOUR MINDS!!!! Still trying to get Osagie and Skales for their own side of the story so expect more updates tomorrow.... In the meantime remember to read whatever u sign o! And make sure u have a good lawyer...
